I-90 Speedway Succumbs To Weather
by Steve Zwemke
HARTFORD, SD — Nearly an inch of rain and below average temperatures forced I-90 Speedway officials to cancel the second night of the 2012 racing season Saturday. Unlike last week when the track’s prep crew was able to take advantage of strong winds, sufficient drying did not happen into the early afternoon.
Paramount Racing Series action will continue next Saturday with hot laps at 6:30 p.m.
The season’s first special at I-90 Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, when Automotive Services, Inc., presents the Second Annual Loren Barstad Memorial Race. The 360 Sprint Car feature, with additional support from JP Custom Graphics, Hard Core Speed Shop, Precision Drywall, Eckley Racing Engines, Heser Auto & Detailing, CRC Seamless, Select Motors, J & L Auto and I-90 Speedway, will now pay $1500 to win. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, driver Mitch Runge won the innaugural event last May.
