BICKETT DOMINATES SECOND HALF OF I-90 SPRINT FEATURE

HARTFORD, S.D. — Once Ryan Bickett took the lead from Terry Chester on lap seven of the 20 lap Hard Core Speed Shop 360 Sprint Car A Main he was gone.  But it was a pretty interesting race before that.  Chester, the pole-sitter, and Troy Schreurs exchanged the lead four times over the first six laps.  Schreurs had the lead when he got too high in turn one and went off the track.  “I went low the lap he went over.  I’m glad I did, otherwise I’d have went too,” said Bickett whose charge came from 10th.  Meanwhile, Dusty Ballenger came from the sixth row to finish second.  However, Ballenger was never able to get close enough to Bickett to mount a real challenge.
Earlier in the evening, Jared Jansen had to be transported by ambulance after hitting the turn four wall in his heat race.  Jansen spun with the rear end of his winged sprinter making hard contact with the concrete wall.  Jansen was transported after feeling discomfort around the neck.
A relieved Cory Yeigh celebrated his first Express Copy and Printing Late Model Street Stock win Saturday.  Yeigh took the lead from Brett Larsen on the third lap and, later in the race, was able to hold points leader Gary Brown, Jr., at arm’s length.  Both drivers started on the fifth row.
Tracy Johnson ended his brother Tyler’s three-week stranglehold on the USRA B-Modified division.  Johnson led the last 14 laps while keeping his brother at bay.  “The track was tacky.  We tightened it up (for the feature).  I think we got it a little too tight but it worked out okay,” said the winning Johnson.
Travis Schreurs repeated as the Hobby Stock feature winner.  Schreurs fought with Dustin Gulbrandson for several laps and then with Zach Olivier late in the race.  Gulbrandson led laps 4-8 but lost a shock.  Schreurs took over for the final four laps and said, “It would’ve been close,” had Gulbrandson not had to pit.  Tim Waltner scored an impressive third place finish.  After exiting his heat due to a flat tire, Waltner won the consolation race and then gained 15 positions in the A Main.
Joe Blake was perfect on the night in the Fast Auto Wash Super Chargers.  He led all 10 laps of the feature for the second consecutive week.  He also won the division’s lone heat.
