HARTFORD, SD — For the last month, just staying in the Top 10 in the Hard Core Speed Shop 360 Sprint Car point standings was the task at hand as Justin Glaser’s team nursed an ailing race car. Glaser had finished no better than 14th in a feature since he finished second to Eric Lutz on June 15. Everything came together for Glaser on Saturday night as he led all 20 laps of the A-Main to capture his first win in almost three years. Glaser was chased early by his teammate John Lambertz, but Glaser took the bottom of the track away from the notorious bottom feeder. Troy Schreurs came from the fifth row but the usual high-sider decided he couldn’t get around by going to Glaser’s outside. Ryan Bickett chose to take a shot at the cushion on a late race restart and passed three cars to get behind Glaser, but that was all he was able to muster in a second place finish that began from the sixth row. Following Glaser and Bickett across the finish line were Lambertz, Schreurs and Brandt O’Banion respectively.
There were a couple of swerves in the Express Copy and Printing Late Model Street Stock feature. Craig Hanisch left the track as the race was getting started. He was disappointed to later find that a wire had become loose. With four laps down, points leader Travis Schreurs also retired his car. With Billy Prouty leading, Cory Yeigh passed John Hoing, Brandon Ferguson and Kipp De Groot. Yeigh eventually passed Prouty on the 10th lap and ran away from the field over the closing six laps for his second win in as many weeks. With the win, Yeigh also claimed a $500 bonus put up by one of his sponsors, T & R Contracting.
A huge field of 25 USRA B-Modifieds showed up for competition. Zac Pruner started on the pole and led the first two laps. At the same time, it was obvious that Miah Christensen would be a part of Pruner’s evening. Christensen got by Pruner on the third lap as the two made minor contact. At the time it looked like Christensen would cruise to victory but Dave Kennedy came through the field to challenge him over the last few laps. Kennedy started three rows behind Christensen but was unable to find the right line to get by the leader. Christensen’s win was his third of the season and certainly a welcome one as he had recently been finding more mayhem than wins. Kennedy’s second place finish allowed him to cut into Tim Dann’s lead atop the point standings. Kennedy now trails Dann by just 23 points. Dustin Kruse closed late to finish third followed by Greg Roemen and Tyler Tesch.
T & R Contracting also made Dustin Gulbrandson a happy feature winner with a $500 bonus. The Sioux Falls driver led all 12 laps of the Hobby Stock A-Main though Zach Olivier provided healthy competition. Olivier leads Gulbrandson in the point standings by 31 points.
Laura Ebbesen led all 10 laps of the Fast Auto Wash Super Chargers feature. Her competition came from Joe Blake in what was mostly a two-car battle. Ebbesen’s win was her third. She has not finished worse than second in her eight starts at I-90 Speedway this year. Justin Voeltz’s third place finish allowed him to take the points lead from Justin Peterson though the lead is just three points.
