Vehicles Allowed
1. American cars.
2. Four (4) door cars only, no pick ups or station wagons.
3. Two door cars
A. Must have a car title weight of 3500 lbs. or more.
B. Must have a minimum of 115 inch wheel base.
4. Must be a rear wheel drive only.
5. Motor, transmission, computer and car must remain O.E. stock with no modifications as it came of the
show room floor with no special ordered parts.
6. Police cars allowed.
7. No cars with T tops.
Items that must be changed, added and are required
Bodies
1. All trims must be removed (spoilers, ground effects, door handles, chrome, windshield wipers, etc.).
2. All glass must be removed (don’t leave the broken parts in the door) (head lights, tail lights, door glass, windshield, rear windows, quarter windows, etc.).
3. Must be a minimum of 3 bars, (minimum ¼ bar) round or square solidly attached vertically or horizontally in front of the driver on the drivers side half of the windshield opening. Drivers side windshield opening also needs to be covered with a screen (screen may cover entire windshield opening).
4. Grill must be removed.
5. Doors and upper door frames must be securely welded closed.
6. Must have a car # on both doors and roof 18 inches tall or taller, and a # facing the front of the car (front edge of the hood or on a head light cover) and a # facing the rear of the car (on the rear deck lid or tail light cover) 4 inches tall or taller. All numbers should stand out from the paint job so it is easy to read.
7. All bumper ends must be attached or connected to the fenders.
8. All holes in hood must be tinned closed (no aluminum).
9. Sun roof holes must be tined closed (no aluminum).
10. Bodies must be kept neat appearing.
11. Must have a tow hook or chain on the front of car and one on the back of the car.
Interiors
1. Every thing must be removed except stock steering column and dash. (Heater boxes, seats, carpets, side upholstery, head liner, arm rests, window cranks, window regulators, door locks and linkage, radio, glove box and door, speakers etc.).
2. All sharp edges must be covered.
3. All holes in fire wall must be covered with tin (not aluminum),
4. Must have roll bar padding on all roll bar piping within reach of driver.
Fuel
1. Pump gas only.
2. All cars with electric fuel pumps must have a fuel pump shut off switch (this is to be a separate switch than the ignition switch) mounted and labeled in the middle of the dash.
Brakes
1. All 4 wheels must be able to lock up the tires, and must have a working red brake light.
Wheels
1. All 4 wheels must be the same size. All 14 or all 15, 7" maximum wheel width.
2. Wheels must be sock OE (steel, aluminum, or alloy). Steel wheels are recommended to be reinforced.
Tires
1. Both front tires must be the same size.
2. Both rear tires must be the same size.
3. Must be a D.O.T. stamped tire street tire with a “P” (passenger) marking. No D.O.T. stamped Hoosier, American Racer, or other brand racing tire (cheater tires). D.O.T. Hoosier street tire is allowed. No snow tires.
4. No shaving, grooving, siping, or etc.
5. Only 175 thru 225, by 70 or 75 size tires allowed. (70 and 75 may be mixed).
Battery
1. Must be in a marine poly case securely mounted in trunk.
Roll cage
1. Must have a full perimeter 4 point cage with a “X” brace and rear kickers. No offset cages and no offset halos.
2. Only round tubing. Tubing must be a minimum of .095 inch thick and 1.666 inch outside diameter for roll bar, ”X” brace, halo, halo cross bar, front down bars, horizontal door bars, vertical door bars, and rear kickers.
3. Steel tubing (no black pipe, galvanized, or any other stupid type of tubing or piping).
4. Welds on all connecting points must be welded all the way around the joint with a quality weld.
5. A. Main roll bar must have a “X” brace and be mounted no farther back than 4 inches behind
the “B” pillar on a 4 door, or no farther back than 2 inches on a 2 door. Roll bar must be welded to the frame with a gusset on each mounting point for a full frame car. On a non full frame car the roll bar must be welded to a minimum of a 5 by 5 inch (or equal square inch equivalent) by 1/8 inch thick plate on each post with a gusset. Plate must be securely welded to the floor.
B. Halo must be securely welded to the roll bar with a gusset at each connection. Halo must have a minimum of one cross bar (front to back running through the middle of the halo or corner to opposite corner).
C. Front down bars must be welded to frame with a gusset on each mounting point for a full frame car. On a non full frame car the down bars must be welded to a minimum of a 5 by5 inch (or equal square inch equivalent) by 1/8 inch thick plate on each post with a gusset. Plate must be securely welded to the floor. Both front down bars must have a horizontal bar connecting them together running either under or on top of the steering column
D. Driver side door bars need a minimum of 3 horizontal bars connecting from the roll bar to the front down bars (top of the top bar recommended to be level with the bottom of the window opening and the bottom of the bottom bar to be no more than 3 inches from the lower door sill with the middle bar spaced equally between the top and the bottom bar, all horizontal bars must be connected together with 2 rows of vertical bars between each row of horizontal bars.
E. Passenger side door bars need a minimum of 3 horizontal door bars connecting from the roll bar to the front down bars (top of the top bar recommended to be level with the bottom of the window opening and the bottom of the bottom bar to be no more than 3 inches from the lower door sill with the middle bar spaced equally between the top and the bottom bar, all horizontal bars must be connected together with 2 rows of vertical bars between each row of horizontal bars.
F. Rear kickers must be connected to the top of the roll bar with a gusset on each point, and be mounted to the frame with a gusset at each point between the rear wheel wells, no farther back than the rear of the wheel wells and no farther forward than the front of the wheel wells on a full frame car. On a non full framed car kickers must be welded to a 5 by 5 inch (or equal square inch equivalent) by 1/8 inch thick plate with a gusset at each point and the plate securely welded to the floor between the rear wheel wells no farther back than the rear of the wheel wells and no farther forward than the front of the wheel wells. (No bars may be mounted to the rear wheel wells).
G. There must be a seat cradle to mount the seat to The cradle must be mounted to the roll cage with a support for the back of the seat and the head rest area of the seat. The seat can not be mounted anywhere to the car, only to the roll cage.
H. The roll cage must have a way for the seat belts to be mounted to the cage (not the car). There also must be a bar mounted to the cage horizontally behind the shoulder harness hole in the seat (the top of the bar should be the same height or maximum of 3" below bottom of the seat hole) for the shoulder strap.
Safety equipment
1. Aluminum dirt track racing seat securely mounted so top of helmet has a minimum of 2 inch clearance to the top of the halo bar.
2. 5 point dirt track racing seat belts, recommended to be no more than three years old, in good shape (no fraying, corrosion in buckles, and etc.)
3. Working window net in drivers side door window.
4. Full face helmet, D.O.T. approved and stamped, in good shape.
5. Neck brace.
6. Fire suit.
7. Fire shoes.
8. Fire gloves.
Things you may do or change
Body
1. Inner plastic front wheel wells may be removed.
2. Head light, tail light, door handles, and etc may be covered over with tin or aluminum.
3. Rear doors and quarter windows openings may be covered over with tin or aluminum.
4. Door hinges may be removed.
5. Hood and trunk hinges may be removed.
6. Hood and trunk lids must be pinned shut with hood pins (no bolts and nuts).
7. Wiper motors, linkages, and posts may be removed.
Interiors
1. Dash may be removed and replaced with a tin on aluminum dash. Dash must go straight across the car as original dash did. No sharp edges.
2. Quick release steering wheel releases allowed but must still use OE stock or aftermarket steering wheel and mounted to OE stock steering column.
3. Front doors may be gutted for door bars.
4. “A” and “B” pillars may be gutted for roll bar.
5. Inner roof may be gutted from roll cage forward for halo bars.
6. After market gauges may be used.
7. E-brake and cables may be removed.
8. Rear fire wall must be completely sealed from drivers compartment with tin (not aluminum) if a fuel cell or the battery is mounted in the trunk.
Fuel
1. Stock fuel tank may be removed and a racing cell used. If a racing fuel cell is used it must be securely mounted in the trunk with a roll over valve (only cars that are O.E. stock with a electric fuel pump may run a electric fuel pump with the racing fuel cell and must be securely mounted in the trunk). All fuel lines must run back under the car to the stock O.E. fuel lines under the trunk (pressure and return lines) using proper pressured fuel lines.
Roll cage
1. Gussets on all door bar joints are recommended.
2. May use extra bar for roll cage but no bars are to go through the front fire wall or go past the rear of the rear wheel wells. No bars are to be attached to the rear wheel wells.
Suspension
1. Springs may be heat shrank or cut to lower car. If springs are cut the pig tail end must remain, no spacers.
2. Rear springs may be welded or clamped to axle spring perch.
3. Rear axle spider gears may be welded (no spools).
4. Only OE stock application shocks allowed, no coil over assist springs on shocks.
5. May use larger wheel studs and lugs.
Wheels
1. Steel after market wheels allowed without bead locks.
2. May use any G.M. wheel on G.M. cars – any Ford wheel on any Ford car – etc..
Electrical
1. Racing starter switch and ignition switches maybe used.
2. Any unused wires may be removed .
3. 2 doors must run stock OE optional auto.
Transmission
1. Any stock O.E. optional trans for that body style may be used (no special order options).
2. Any unneeded sensors. wires and lines may be removed.
3. 2 doors must run stock OE automatic transmission only.
4. Shifter maybe relocated to floor.
Engine
1. Any stock O.E. optional motor for that body style may be used (no special order options).
2. Pollution control items may be removed.
3. Air conditioning may be (gas professionally) removed.
4. Unneeded sensors, wires and hoses may be removed.
5. Fan clutches may be replaced with a maximum of a 3 inch spacer.
6. Any factory O.E.M. steel fan (no aluminum, fiber, plastic or etc.).
7. Fan shroud may be replaced with a plastic or aluminum shroud.
8. Any carbureted motor may replace O.E. air cleaner housing with a basic after market air cleaner housing (no topflow air cleaners, cold air boxes or air cleaner duct work allowed). Maximum air cleaner size of 14 inch diameter round by 2 ½ tall.
9. Must maintain a minimum of 17 inch vacuum off the intake at 750 R.P.M.’s.
10. May use either a single wire or multiple wire alternator.
11. All motors may run either stock diameter V belts or stock serpentine belt. (No overdrive pulleys).
Optional G.M. Metric framed car, engine and Trans:
Engine (maximum of stock 350 C.I.D. engine, no Vortec engines or parts, no Mexican orCanadian parts,
no racing or high performance after market or G.M. racing parts, no tuned port, Vortec, TBI engines or parts allowed).
1. Crank must match block and may not be lightened.
2. Stock O.E. G.M. 5.7 rods.
3. Flat top pistons.
4. O.E. G.M. Hydraulic lifters.
5. 7.794 maximum G.M. O.E. length stock push rods.
6. Stamped 1.5 G.M. O.E. stock rocker arms.
7. Hydraulic cam – Maximum of 500 lift on intake, measured off the top of the rock arm.
8. Single valve spring with a maximum of 100 lbs. of spring pressure.
9. 1.94 intake valves – 1.50 exhaust valves.
10. Only cast O.E. G.M. 76 cc and larger combustion chamber heads and must match block and stroke size. No milling, must be 23 degree heads.
11. 3/8 press in rocker arm studs.
12. G.M. O.E. stock rocker arm nuts (no lockers).
13. 8 inch minimum O.E. stock harmonic balancer.
14. G.M. O.E. stock timing chain (no belt drive, double roller, gear drive or etc.).
15. G.M. O.E. cast, stock 2 barrel intake manifold.
16. One O.E. stock unaltered Rochester 2 barrel carb with a maximum of 1 11/16 throttle bore at the throttle plate. (choke plate, choke plate rod and choke linkage may be removed). Maximum of 3/8 fuel inlet.
17. O.E. G.M. single point system or HEI distributor.
18. Crimped body mechanical fuel pump.
19. G.M. cast, belt drive water pump.
20. No under or over drive size pulleys.
21. These engines must tube to with in 1.5% of G.M. factory C.I.D. specs.
22. Must be able to produce a minimum of 17 inch vacuum (upon track officials request) off the intake at 750 R.P.M.s.
23. G.M. snorkel air cleaner housing or after market air cleaner housing (no top flow, cold air or duct work housings allowed).
24. Maximum air cleaner size of 12 inch diameter by 2 ½ inches tall.
25. Either a single wire or multi wire alternator allowed.
Transmission
1. Automatics only.
A. Only T.H. 350 or Metric 200 only.
B. Torque converters must be a minimum of 11 inch and functional. Must hold a minimum of 4 quarts of fluid and have a drain hole. Torque converter must temp at the same temp or higher than the tranny pan.
Other Items for all cars
Misc.
1. Any thing you want to do, add or change that is not O.E. stock and/or covered in these rules needs to be ok’ed in writing by a Tech. official. It is your responsibility to find a Tech. official.
2. Tech. official’s interpretation of these rules are the way they will be enforced (not your way). If you are not sure of a interpretation of a rule or your interpretation of the rule differs from the Tech. official, it is your problem. It is your responsibility to check with a Tech. official for the correct interpretation.
3. The Tech. official will determine the penalty for the infraction of any of these rules based on the severity and safety factor of the discretion.
4. Your car and you open to being teched at any time your car and/or you are on the track property. If you are asked to do something by a Tech. official you must do it, if not you will be asked to put your car on the trailer and leave, and the car will be D.Q.ed. The next time you return to the track you will need to show a Tech. official you have corrected the problem. If there are any fines or penalties thy will have to be taken care of before you and/or your car may race again.
5. All engines (except G.M. metric cars without a O.E. factory optional engine) must tube within 1.5% of factory C.I.D. specs.
6. All points in class will go to the driver. 2 provisionals are allowed.
7. No square tubing to be used anywhere on the car.
8. No transmitting or listening devices allowed in the race car.
Transponder Mount Location
1. AMB-it Transponder must be mounted on the inside of the frame rail after the bend that goes toward the doors but before the bend that goes back to the doors. *Remember the transponder will not read through metal and must be less than 2 feet from the ground.
General Rules
Track officials shall have responsibility for rule regulations enforcement at all times. At the discretion of the track officials in charge, any competitor may be disqualified for rule violations, hazardous equipment or hazardous actions. All cars subject to inspection at any time. Approval of vehicle by the inspector shall mean only that the vehicle is approved for participation a competitive event and shall not be constructed in any way to mean that the inspected vehicle is guaranteed mechanically sound. Be it further declared that the inspector shall not be liable for any losses or injuries resulting from the same. Any unsportsmanlike conduct by the drivers, owners and /or pit crews shall be grounds for disqualification. Drivers are responsible for the conduct and actions of their crew members. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages will be consumed by driver or pit crew prior to or while competing. No use of illegal drugs. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age (proof of age required). Drivers under 18 years of age must have signed and notarized parental consent form by parents or legal guardian and said consent must be in the hands of the track officials before the individual will be allowed to participate in any event. The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR SAFTY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specification herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANY OF SAFTY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation of deviation of these rules is left up to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.
