PICK-UP BODY

  1. Only (2) wheel drive, full size, 1/2 ton American made pick-up truck bodies allowed. They will consist of truck bodies mounted on full car frames. Intermarriage of makes & models allowed. (Ford or Dodge body on GM frame, OK, etc.)
  2. A (4) point roll cage with kickers,and gussets on all principle points is mandatory. 4 point roll cage and door bars must remain within the driver's area. Bracing will be allowed on each side from the roll cage to the rear frame.
  3. Roll bar padding required in driver compartment. Fire retardant padding recommended.
  4. Roll cage must be securely welded to frame with a gusset on each connecting point. Must have a minimum of one cross bar in the top halo of roll cage. Minimum .095 inch tubing at least 1.666 inch outside diameter for cages and door bars.
  5. Must have 3 horizontal bars on driver's side and 3 horizontal bars on passenger side of the cage not counting the uprights. Steel door plates required, 18 ga. or .049 " minimum thickness securely welded to outside of driver's side door bars from top to bottom and rear to 5" ahead of seat. Must be visible for inspection.
  6. All doors must be welded or bolted shut and doors may be gutted.
  7. All glass, plastic, (except nose pieces), chrome, lights and mirrors must be removed.
  8. A metal fire wall separating the driver from the fuel tank and truck area must also be installed.
  9. Truck body may not be older than 1969 model trucks. Truck body must retain factory cab, fenders and hood, gutting allowed. Truck must have original stock floor pan and firewall. All holes in firewall must be tinned. No sectioning, channeling or chopping allowed. The back of the cab, except rear window hole, must be enclosed in steel. No aluminum hoods. Truck number required on both sides and roof minimum of eighteen inches in height and a number is required facing the front and rear of the truck with a minimum height of six inches.
  10. Must have a minimum of (3) windshield bars and screen securely fastened in front of driver.
  11. The truck box must have factory appearing steel box sides and tailgate. Bed must be covered in with steel or aluminum. No toppers or fiberglass covers. No fiberglass or plastic body parts except plastic nose pieces.
  12. A one inch by two inch body side bar or rub rail may be used between the front and rear wheel wells, but must be mounted flush to the body and painted the same color as its background.
  13. The center of the lower ball joint to the back of the cab must be between (74-1/2) inches to (76-1/2) inches.
  14. Hoods and cowls must be completely enclosed. Complete firewalls only in stock location. No fabricating or enclosing anywhere in driver compartment. Interior of the race truck must remain open. No enclosed cockpits.
  15. Trucks may have a (5) inch spoiler mounted on the back of the truck bed.
  16. Bumpers can be reinforced. Factory front bumper is required unless a plastic nose piece is used with a molded bumper. Molded bumper must be backed with a (2) inch by (3) inch tube. Bumper ends must be covered or attached to the fenders to prevent hooking.
  17. Rear bumper must be (2) inch by (3) inch tube. May not extend more than (2) inches outside of the truck box. Bumper ends must be covered or attached to the fenders to prevent hooking.
  18. Ballast will be allowed. All weights must be painted white with the truck number on them. Weights must be securely fastened to the frame and cannot be stacked.

PICK-UP CHASSIS

  1. Full stock passenger car frame only. Full frame must be stock wheelbase and unaltered from the front stub to the back wheel spring cans. Rear coil spring cans must remain stock and in stock factory position on frame.
  2. From rear spring can back, frame may be tubed in to factory appearance. You may also add additional support from the rear cage hoop to the rear of frame as long as the stock frame remains unaltered.

SUSPENSION

  1. Stock suspension. Suspension parts and mounts must remain stock for that make & model of frame. No spacers, lumber or chains, etc. may be used to alter stock suspension of frame. If heim joints are used for the upper & lowercontrol arms, they must be welded & non-adjustable. Upper 'A' frames may be reinforced. Non-adjustable UPPER tubular 'A' frames are optional.
  2. Only (1) non-adjustable shock per wheel allowed. The shafts of all shocks must fit into a (9/16) inch open end wrench.

BATTERY

  1. Battery must be in a marine type case securely mounted in a metal frame in the rear box area.

BRAKES AND DRIVE TRAIN

  1. OEM brakes on all (4) wheels must work. After market brake pedal or master cylinder assemblies allowed. No aftermarket rear disc brakes allowed (rear disc brakes optional), stock only. No OEM or aftermarket anti-lock brake systems. Red rear brake light required.
  2. Transmission: All forward and reverse gears must be operational.
    A. Automatic: Transmission must be OEM automatic, torque converters must be a minimum of 11” and functional. Must hold a minimum of 4 quarts of fluid and have a drain hole. Torque converter must temp at the same temp or higher than the transmission pan. Automatic transmissions must run flex plate safety shield.
    B. Manual: Must be unaltered OEM three or four speed, with minimum 10.5” steel/organic single disc-type clutch and steel pressure plate assembly inside an explosion-proof steel bellhousing or steel safety shield- minimum 270 degrees around top of clutch and flywheel area. No lightweight bellhousings. No light weight pressure plates. No hydraulic clutch release bearing. Steel unaltered flywheel only. No Corvette or aluminum flywheels.
  3. No ¾ ton truck rear ends allowed. Nine inch Ford rear ends allowed, but must be mounted like stock rear end for that make & model of frame.
  4. Rear end may be welded or mini spools. (No Full Spools)
  5. Rear suspension must match frame. Drive shafts must be painted white with car # on them. Full (360) degree loop required, within 6” of front U-joint.

TIRES & WHEELS

  1. Stock (OE) P205, (14) inch or (15) inch passenger tires. No snows or mud & snows. Must be D.O.T. stamped and legible. (No exceptions). All (4) wheels on car must be the same size. No grooving or siping allowed.
  2. Steel spoke wheels are allowed. Maximum (8") wheel only. Reinforcing of stock wheels required. (1") lug nuts required.
  3. Bead locks are optional.

FUEL & FUEL TANKS

  1. Gasoline only. No additives. Purple okay. E85 allowed, carburetor modification limited to trucks on E85 only
  2. Racing fuel cell required. No boat or stock fuel tanks allowed. Must be securely fastened to the frame inside the trunk on the cars, and in the box on the pick-ups. Trunk floor can be removed for fuel cell, one inch clearance allowed between trunk floor and fuel cell. A steel firewall must be between the driver and the fuel cell. All fuel cell mounts must be made of steel and attached to the frame or cage. Fuel cell must be in a steel container. Fuel cell vents must have check valves. Fuel lines that go through the driver's compartment must be in steel pipe or conduit. No fuel filters in driver's compartment.

ENGINE AND CARBURETOR

  1. The engine must appear strictly stock for that make & model and in the stock location. Only stock OEM rods and crankshafts allowed. No (400) or larger cubic inch parts allowed. Stroke must match block.
  2. No porting or polishing or alterations of any kind to cylinder heads or to intake manifold. No full roller or roller tip rocker arms. No roller lifters. No stud girdles. Pined or screw in rocker studs, single spring valve springs only. 202 valves allowed.
  3. Maximum (360) cubic inches on Chevrolets & (370) cubic inches on Fords & Chryslers.
  4. Any OEM cast iron (2) barrel intake manifold only.
  5. NO Headers. Must be cast iron exhaust manifolds only. Exhaust must extend past the firewall. Must remain dual exhaust, no crossover or "Y" pipes allowed. Rear dump cast stock exhaust manifold. Aluminum water pump allowed.
  6. No electric fuel pumps. Stock fuel pumps required. Only stock power steering pumps allowed. No quick steers allowed. Steel or aluminum pulleys allowed.
  7. Minimum 2 core approved steel or aluminum radiator. Any overflow tubes must be directed to the ground, inside frame rails.
  8. Stock production (2) barrel carburetor only. No alterations allowed, 1 11/16 throttle bore maximum. No Holleys. Maximum 1” straight through spacer, no funnel type spacer, and maximum 2 gaskets allowed. Sealed motors 4 gaskets allowed, maximum carb boosters bore ¼”. Restrictor for sealed motor must be maximum of 1.687”. No top flow air cleaner housings, cold air boxes or air cleaner duct work allowed.
  9. Flat top pistons only. GM engines must run (76) CC or larger heads. Approved head numbers are: (014, 195, 267, 330, 336, 339, 388, 393, 441, 445, 454, 487, 493, 545, 598, 624, 642, 709, 799, 813, 862, 881, 882, 920, 991, 993, 997). Ford engines, no after market or SVO heads. Chrysler engines, no after market or W2 heads. (360) cubic inch heads only. No porting or polishing allowed.
  10. No remote after market ignition boxes such as, Accel, Mallory, MSD, etc., and no magnetos.
  11. Refer to Hobby Stock rules for engine claim.
  12. Minimum 3/4 inch inspection hole on side of oil pan 2 1/2 inches down from pan rail in line with a journal required. Inspection hole must be easily accessed by tech inspector.
  13. Optional sealed motors to include Sehr sealed motor package, or, GM Sealed Motor package part #88958602, both motors are unclaimable. Restrictor plate required for both motors.
  14. No lighting of Crankshafts, Hydraulic or solid Camshafts only. No rollers. No angle cutting heads. Pistons must be even or below block at top dead center in 2009.

SAFETY

  1. Five point safety belts, sub belt and shoulder harness required. Belts required to be no more than (3) years old.
  2. Fire retardant racing suit is mandatory.
  3. Fire retardant racing gloves and shoes are mandatory.
  4. Fire retardant socks, underwear and hood are highly recommended.
  5. Neck brace is required.
  6. Window net is mandatory.
  7. Helmets - SNELL SA00 or SA05 required. Helmets must be worn at all times when driver is operating race car.
  8. No transmitting or listening devices are allowed in the race car.
  9. No electric monitoring computer devices capable of storing or transmitting information, except tach, allowed on race car

NOTE

  1. Any rules not covered here or any rules in question will be left up to the officials in charge. Their decision will be final.

TRANSPONDER MOUNT LOCATION

  1. AMB-it Transponder must be mounted on the inside of the frame rail after the bend that goes toward the doors but before the bend that goes back to the doors. *Remember the transponder will not read through metal and must be less than 2 feet from ground.

    GENERAL RULES

    Track officials shall have responsibility for rules regulations enforcement at all events. At the discretion of track officials in charge, any competitor may be disqualified for rule violations, hazardous equipment or hazardous actions. All cars are subject to inspection at any time. Approval of vehicle by the inspector shall mean only that the vehicle is approved for participation in a competitive event and shall not be constructed in any way to mean that the inspected vehicle is guaranteed mechanically sound. Be it further declared that the inspector shall not be liable, for any losses or injuries resulting from the same. Any unsportsmanlike conduct by the drivers, owners and/or pit crews shall be grounds for disqualification. Drivers are responsible for the conduct and action of their crew members. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages will be consumed by driver or pit crew prior to or while competing. No use of illegal drugs. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age (proof of age required). Drivers under 18 years of age must have a signed and notarized parental consent form by parents or legal guardian and said consent must be in the hands of the track official before the individual will be allowed to participate in any event. The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of allevents, and by participating in these event, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specification herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation of deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.
