360 Sprints will be I-90 rules with $10 Pill Draw Fee. Pit passes will be $25 each. 360 Sprint Heat Lineup will be draw. Passing point qualifier to feature races. 360 Sprint pill draw fee will qualify each driver to be eligible for prizes drawn during the night.

We are adding some $$$ to the winners of the other classes as well!! Street Stocks go from $400 to $600 to Win! B-Mods go from $200 to $350 to Win! Hobby Stocks go from $150 to $225 to win and Super Chargers go from $60 to $80 to win!

3rd Annual Barstad Memorial Race Saturday At I-90 Speedway

HARTFORD, S.D. – Automotive Services, Inc., presents the 3^rd annual Loren Barstad Memorial this Saturday night at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, South Dakota. A great field of 360 Sprint Cars is expected to race for the $1500 top prize. The main event features a $10,000 purse.

The winner’s checks have also been increased for this weekend. The Express Copy and Printing Street Stock feature will pay $600 to win. The USRA B-Modified winner’s share has been bumped up to $350. Hobby Stocks will race for a top prize of $225.

Loren Barstad was a fan of all types of racing and the organizers of the 3^rd annual Barstad Memorial want to celebrate Loren’s life and love for racing by involving all divisions this season.

T-shirts and hoodies commemorating the 3^rd annual Loren Barstad Memorial are available at I-90 Speedway this Saturday. T-shirts cost $15 and hoodies are $30 each. Purchase yours early before your size runs out! All proceeds from the clothing sales go directly into the $10,000 purse to help fund the enhanced payout for Hard Core Speed Shop 360 Sprint Cars.

BALLENGER CASHES IN WITH OPENING NIGHT BONUSES

HARTFORD, S.D. – It took three-time I-90 Speedway track champion Dusty Ballenger until the final night of the 2012 season to earn his first win last year. He won’t have that problem this year. Ballenger led all 20 laps of Saturday’s season opening Hard Core Speed Shop 360 Sprint Car main event after starting in the second position. He clearly had the best car early and also while dealing with slower traffic later in the race. Pole-sitter John Lambertz settled for a second place finish. Troy Schreurs missed out on a Top 5 finish when he crossed the scales too light.

A number of Ballenger’s sponsors pooled $500 in bonus money together which he gladly pocketed at the end of the night.

Five-time Hobby Stock title holder Travis Schreurs made the decision over the winter to sell his Hobby Stock and move up to the Express Copy & Printing Late Model Street Stock division. It’s a move that paid early dividends as Schreurs swept opening night. Schreurs led the first six laps before giving way to last year’s champion, Gary Brown, Jr. Two laps later, as Craig Hanisch was engaging Brown in battle for the lead, Schreurs bulleted past both drivers by using the high line through turn four. Schreurs then drove away from the two veterans for a convincing win in his first night in the car. It was Schruers 33rd career victory at I-90 Speedway.

The USRA B-Modified feature was highlighted by three lead changes. Craig Hanisch led the first lap but quickly gave the lead to Marty Myers on the second lap. Myers held the lead until Greg Eden slid underneath his car on the seventh lap. The #12 of Brock Hess got stronger as the race went on and he muscled past Eden on lap 11. Hess went untouched over the final five laps for the win - his first at I-90 Speedway since August, 2010. Hanisch battled back to finish second. Dudley Schroeder, Jr., patiently worked his way from 10th to third.

The evening’s Hobby Stock feature had a lengthy and ugly start before entertaining fans with the closest finish of the night. The opening lap saw Logan Fitzpatrick’s car become glued to Brian Campbell’s. After they were detached, another incident saw Jason Bradley become entangled Jessica Brandt. Brandt was shaken up and received attention from Rural Metro Ambulance officials. Tim Waltner waited out the delays and ended up leading the first 11 laps. However, Zach Olivier slowly reeled him in from his third row starting position and caught Waltner on the final lap. The white flag lap resembled a Kyle Busch win from early this season as Olivier squeezed Waltner against the wall on the frontstretch to beat him by just a half car length. Don Brady, Jr., had his car working well all night. He came from ninth to finish third. He also won his heat.

Justin Peterson opened the night by winning his first career I-90 Speedway feature. Peterson also won his heat and earned the pole position. He led all 10 laps of the Fast Auto Wash Super Chargers A-Main. Chad Carpenter caught up with Peterson after starting in the third row. However, Carpenter lost his momentum after he made contact with the leader with four laps remaining.

Late Model Street Stock Tire Rule Change!

Attention Late Model Street Stock Division-

Hoosier Tire Corporate has made a mistake and over sold the H40 racing tires. So there are n0 H40 tires for the 2013 racing season. So we will be allowing the A40 tire on the right rear. For the guys that have bought new H40 tires with winter, will be able to return the tire for an A40 providing the tire is not cut, sipped or grooved. Banquet certificates will also be redeemable for an A40 tire. For the guys that have used H40 tires you will be able to run those tires in the 2013 season.

The Season Opener is RE-scheduled for Saturday April 27th. The pit gates will open up at 2pm Saturday so come early and get registered! Please remember the start times this racing season- cut off for drivers will be 5:30pm, pit meeting at 6pm, Hot Laps at 6:30pm and Races will start at 7pm.

Saturday April 13th -Don’t miss the I-90 Speedway 2013 Car Show at the Sunshine Foods Parking lot in Hartford, SD! Registration starts at 9am and awards will be given at 2pm. All registered cars will qualify for Test & Tune Pit Passes- but all cars must be registered by 12pm and be in attendance at car show.

Test & Tune after the car show at I-90 Speedway starting at 3pm till dusk. Grandstand Admission is free! Beer and concessions available! Pits will be $25 to enter.

Come out to help kick off the 2013 Racing Season!!!
