Interstate Auto Center's

Stock Car Challenge Race

Ten drivers from VeraSun Hobby Stocks and ten drivers from the Express Copy & Printing Street Stocks will be chosen to race in the Interstate Auto Center Relay on Saturday August 25th. The top ten drivers in each class from the Interstate Auto Center Relay points system will be eligible to race.

Each driver will be allowed four crew members, one standard floor jack, an impact wrench and two spare wheels and tires (no spare or cheater lug nuts allowed).

The event will run as follows:

The top ten VeraSun Hobby Stock cars will be lined up in their designated pit spots against the inside wall. The driver will be buckled in and ready to race. The four crew members will be standing behind a designated line with their tires and equipment. All cars must remain shut off during the pit stop. At the command, crew members will remove both right side tires and replace them with the spares, move to the left side of the car and remove the left tires and replace them with the tires removed from the right side of the car. The socket from the impact will be removed and placed in the car with the driver. This becomes the baton for the relay. As soon as the car is off the jack, the driver should start the car and proceed out of the pit stall and to the line up area. Each lug nut on the car will be checked by a track official to make sure they are tight. If the lug nuts are loose, his car will proceed back to the pit stall to be fixed. The starting line-up will be determined by how each car exits past the designated line leaving the pit area. The winner of the pit-stop will have first choice to line up either inside or outside of first row. The rest of the field falls in accordingly. The cars will be held up until all crews and cars have exited the pit spots. A parade lap will be completed and then the green flag will drop. These cars will race for 12 laps to checkered flag.

After the checkered flag is thrown, the pace truck will pull out onto the speedway and the cars will be lined up behind the pace truck in order they finished the race. At this time the Express Copy & Printing Street Stocks will pull out into their designated pit spots along the front wall and the crew members will be ready with all required equipment and tires. Crew members again will be standing behind the designated line. The VeraSun Hobby Stock cars will be paraded onto the back stretch. At the command, one crew member will run to their VeraSun Hobby Stock team member’s car, retrieve the baton (impact socket) and return to the Express Copy & Printing Street Stock. All cars must remain shut off during the pit stop. Crew members will remove both right side tires and replace them with the spares, move to the left side of the car and remove the left tires and replace them with the tires removed from the right side of the car. As soon as the car is off the jack, the driver should start the car and proceed out of the pit stall and to the line up area. Each lug nut on the car will be checked by a track official to make sure they are tight. If the lug nuts are loose, he car will proceed back to the pit stall to be fixed. The starting line-up will be determined by how each car exits past the designated line leaving the pit area. The winner of the pit-stop will have first choice to line up either inside or outside of first row. The rest of the field falls in accordingly. The cars will be held up until all crews and cars have exited the pit spots. A parade lap will be completed, then the green flag will drop. These cars will race for 15 laps to checkered flag. In the event of a flat tire, the car will exit the track and change the tire on a yellow or red flag. No waiting for a tire change!

The “3 Yellow” rule is not in effect during this race. However, if you cause a yellow, you must go to the back of the pack & are docked 5 points. As you proceed from the back of the pack you will gain 1 passing point for every car you pass, up to a maximum of 5 points.
