Omaha’s Schaller takes top honors at I-90 Speedway

Ben Schaller took over the lead on the third lap of Saturday’s H&H Mobile Homes feature for the RepairableVehicles.com Tri-State Late Model Series. He hold off several challenges to take his first win with the series.

Schaller said in S&S Graphics victory lane that he thought he could see the nose of Blair Nothdurft to his inside during the close laps. That is likely as the driver of the #76 was working the very bottom of the track and made several challenges for the front spot. Nate Behenhof joined that action in the last five laps making it a three car battle.

Schaller would take the win by 0.4 ahead of Nate Beyenhof and Nothdurft. Jordan Heiman led the opening two laps and placed fourth just ahead of Chad Olsen.

In the Cressman Sanitation IMCA Sprint cars, Elliot Amdahl got to the lead on lap 16 of the 20 lap affair and he’d go on to the win from there. The race for second involved four cars on the final lap. Dusty Ballenger, Brant O’Banion, Casey Abbas and Christopher Thram completed the top five, respectively. Thram charged back into the top five after spinning on lap two.

Brylee Gough got back to victory lane in the T&R Contracting Late Model Street Stocks. He led the entire distance of the event to get his second career win at the track. His last victory came at the season opener in 2019.

At just 17 years of age, Cole Christensen can now say he is a winner at I-90 Speedway. He was the third different leader of the Great Western Bank USRA B-Modified feature. He took over the top spot on lap six and went on to his first win at the track.

From twelfth to the lead in seven laps, Dustin Gulbrandson stormed to his 20th career win at I-90 Speedway in the www.LawnSnow.com USRA Hobby Stocks. Gulbrandson took over the lead from Levi VanderWeide on lap seven. VanderWeide led three laps after Brian Campbell led the opening three circuits.

I-90 Speedway celebrates Independence Day next Saturday with the Paramount Racing Series plus the Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
